Public Still Opposes A Wall On Our Southern Border
Before they went on a month-long vacation, the House approved $1.6 billion for a wall between the United States and Mexico. It's only a tiny fraction of the money needed to build the whole wall that Trump wants (around $21 billion), but it will allow a start on building.
But as usual for Trump and the GOP Congress, they are acting against the wishes of a majority of Americans. About 56% of Americans say they don't want a wall built on our Southern border, while only 37% support building the wall.
The chart above is made from information in a new Rasmussen Poll -- done on July 26th and 27th of a random national sample of 1,000 likely voters, with a 3 point margin of error. And Rasmussen is a poll that's normally very kind to Republicans.
