These charts are from a recent Economist / YouGov Poll -- done between June 13th and 15th of a national sample of 1,500 adults, with a 3 point margin of error.
It's not surprise that a huge majority of Americans (66%) say that democracy is the best form of government -- including 84% of Democrats, 62% of Independents, and 65% of Republicans.
But that does not mean they are happy with how the U.S. democracy is working. They aren't! About 59% of adults (including 50% of Democrats, 66% of Independents, and 74% of Republicans) say they are dissatisfied with how democracy is working in the United States today.
And a plurality (41%) say they are pessimistic about the future of democracy in the United States. Only 31% say they are optimistic.
