Poll Shows Obama In Strong Position

President Obama has had a lot to smile about recently. Several polls have showed that he is once again over 50% approval from the populace. Part of this is due to his bringing Osama bin Laden to justice and part is due to recent Republican blunders (who continue to ignore ordinary Americans and favor the rich).

A new Politico/George Washington University poll verifies the good news for Obama. This poll (taken between May 8th and May 12th of 1,000 registered voters nationwide with a 3.1% margin of error) shows the following:

OBAMA JOB PERFORMANCE
approve...............52%
unsure...............4%
disapprove...............44%

That shows a strong gain in the president's job performance approval rating. But this next question may even be more important. It shows the public just likes the president (and the American public likes to vote for people they like personally).

IMPRESSION OF OBAMA AS A PERSON
approve...............72%
unsure...............10%
disapprove...............19%

Those numbers should scare Republicans. It means that their concerted effort to demonize the president in the last couple of years is simply not working. People continue to like the president as a person. And they also prefer the policies of the president over those of the Republicans in Congress. When asked to compare these policies, these numbers were received:

The only area the Republicans score better in is the deficit (and that is within the margin of error). And these people considered job creation more important than the deficit. If I was Barack Obama. I would be very happy with these numbers.
