It is a sad night in our house. It is a sad night for Texas as a whole. Former Governor Ann Richards died today of cancer at the age of 73.
I'm at a loss for words, which isn't an often occurence. My father took me to see one of her speeches when I was a pre-teen and she's been one of my heroes since. I can honestly say that my interest in politics was born the minute I first heard her speak.
She mixed the guts and brains of a great politician with the warmth and class of a great person. She was truly special.
Texas was lucky to have her.
