Charges Dropped Against Texas Trio

A couple of weeks ago, three young Texans were arrested in Michigan and charged with terrorism. What was the evidence?

1. They were of Arabic ancestry
2. They were in possession of hundreds of cell phones
3. They had a picture of a bridge in Michigan

At the time, I remarked that none of these three things was against the law in this country, and they should be released until such time as it could be shown that they had violated a real law. The terrorism charges were stupid to begin with, and they were quickly dropped. But our government does not like to admit it was wrong, so they charged the men with fraud and money-laundering.

Today, United States District Court Magistrate Charles Binder threw those charges out, and released the men. The judge said there was not enough evidence to proceed to trial. Thank goodness for judges with courage and common sense. These men were only trying to do that most American of things - buying and selling legal items to make a profit. Surely our government is not ready to make capitalism a crime.
