Perry Lied About Sale Of Park Land

A few days ago, we learned that the governor's office had interfered in the attempt to sell off 400 acres of the state's park land around Eagle Mountain Lake in northern Tarrant County. Perry's people had encouraged the quick sale of the property to developers. Now we learn that it's even worse than we thought. Even though Perry denies it, we now learn that it was Perry's idea to sell the park land in the first place.

Perry has tried to give the impression that he had nothing to do with trying to sell the park land. He wants people to believe that it was the Land Commissioner or the Parks & Wildlife Department that wanted to sell the land. However, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has uncovered e-mails from the governor's office to Parks & Wildlife from last Spring, where he asks them to consider selling the Eagle Mountain Lake park land. In other words, Perry has been lying to us the whole time.

When the people of Tarrant County started getting upset, even many Republicans, Perry started to lie. I guess he had visions of votes going over to his opponents. Lying seems to come easy for the Perry/Bush/DeLay type Republicans. They discovered long ago, that its easier to lie about a problem than to fix it [especially if you don't know how to fix it]. Perry took a state with a surplus in the budget and squandered it away. Now he wants to sell off our state park land to pay for his incompetence.

Where do Perry's opponents stand on the issue of selling off the 400 acres at Eagle Mountain Lake? I don't know. I haven't heard any of them discuss this specific sale of park land. One thing we do know though - at least they haven't lied to us about it. Perry has.
