It's finally happened. Paul Wolfowitz has agreed to resign from his leadership position at the World Bank. After his unethical behavior there, it was just a matter of time.
Wolfowitz claims that the bank's Board of Directors had agreed with him that he acted "ethically and in good faith". I imagine they would have agreed that he was the Easter Bunny, as long as he resigned. Everone already knows about his unethical behavior anyway.
It's pretty amazing that he considers rewarding his girlfriend with enormous raises as "ethical behavior". Seems like he had as little connection to the real world while head of the World Bank, as he did while screwing up the Iraqi rebuilding effort.
I guess it's time for Bush to give him a medal now. Isn't that what usually happens when a Bush loyalist messes up so bad that he has to resign?
Meanwhile, Wolfowitz's girlfriend is feeling like she's been treated unfairly. Boo Hoo! I guess now she knows how the bank's other employees felt when she was being rewarded for being the boss's girlfriend.
The only thing left now is to see what post Bush will appoint him to now. Whatever it is, he'll screw it up.
