While attending the reception for Rick Noriega on Friday morning, I heard several local Democrats talking about the possibility of Obama opening a local headquarters office here in Amarillo. Now it looks like that may actually happen.
The good folks over at Panhandle Truth Squad have been in touch with the Obama people, and they are reporting that an Obama headquarters could open here as soon as this middle of this week.
In fact, they are looking for some good local Democrats who would be willing to provide a bed (and maybe a couple of meals) for the Obama campaign people who would come here to help open the headquarters. If you'd be willing to help out, e-mail PTS at panhandletruthsquad@yahoo.com.
But it gets even better. According to PTS, Obama state headquarters says there is a good chance that Barack Obama may actually make a stop here in Amarillo. That's some exciting stuff!
That just goes to show how important Texas has become in the Democratic race this year. Who would ever have thought one of the presidential candidates would be thinking of coming to Amarillo of all places?
With Obama opening an office here, I bet it'll just be a few days before the Clinton people respond with their own presence.
