John Sidney McCain's off-the-wall pick to be his vice-president, Sarah Palin, is coming to Texas. But if you're just an ordinary voter, don't expect to get to meet Ms. Palin. She's not coming to campaign, but to shake some money loose from rich Texans. As usual, this candidate looks at Texas as her personal ATM -- not as a state to be campaigned in.The Alaskan governor is coming to the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas on October 3rd for a Republican National Committee fund-raiser. A single ticket to the event will cost $1000. A sponsorship will cost $57,000 (that gets you two tickets). As you can see, she's only interested in meeting Texans who have money to burn.
It used to be that candidates would actually come to Texas to campaign. Maybe if Democrats can make it close in Texas this year, we could make the candidates campaign here in 2012.
