Tour's Stage 10 Has Green Jersey Battle


Stage ten of the Tour de France went for 121 miles, but turned out to be a battle for the sprinters. There was a breakaway, but the peloton never let them get too far ahead and reeled them back in near the end of the race.

The stage became a battle between the two riders vying for the green jersey. Mark Cavendish of Columbia finished first in this stage, and Thor Hushovd of Cervelo finished second. Hushovd is still in the lead for the green jersey, but Cavendish is only six points behind. It looks like we'll have to wait for a few more stages to see which one will claim the jersey in Paris. American Tyler Farrar of Garmin finished third in this stage.

The overall leaders remained pretty much the same after stage ten, and probably will until they get back to the mountains in a few days. Here are the current standings:
