Tina Fey Wins Emmy For Palin Portrayal

This really doesn't surprise me, because Tina Fey's hilarious portrayal of Sarah Palin is one of the best satirical takes on a politician in many years. Last Saturday night Ms. Fey was given the Emmy Award for best guest actress in a comedy series for her take on Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live prior to last year's elections.

To get the award, she beat out some pretty stiff competition, including two actresses who appeared on Fey's weekly series . The other actresses nominated in the catagory were Jennifer Aniston and Elaine Stritch (30 Rock), Betty White (My Name Is Earl), Gena Rowlands (Monk) and Christine Baranski (The Big Bang Theory).

This is the sixth Emmy for the talented Ms. Fey. The previous Emmys were awarded for writing variety show (Saturday Night Live, 2002), producing comedy (30 Rock, 2007 and 2008), writing comedy (30 Rock, 2008) and lead actress comedy (30 Rock, 2008).

When she accepted the award, she said, "Mrs. Palin is an inspirition to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before the Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs. Palin."
