"Rahm Emmanuel should be given credit for recruiting as many moderate to conservative Democrats to run for Congress as he did. But the heavy lifting is going to come next year when these blue-dog Democrats run head long into the agenda of the liberal Democrat leadership."
The real heavy lifting started this year, when everyone thought that control of both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue meant that the Left had a lock on the agenda in Washington. Well, not so much, it seems.
Building a majority requires a Big Tent, but when that tent extends beyond the core principles of a party, there's a price to pay.
