Arnold Schwarzenegger may be a Republican, but I'm starting to have a bit of respect for him. Why? Because he tells the truth. I don't always agree with him, but I don't get the feeling he's lying or trying to cover up something to make himself look better. That's a refreshing change from the run-of-the-mill Republican politician.
Take Sarah Palin for example. She wouldn't know the truth if it bit her on the ass. She knows what will make her base happy, and those are the platitudes she peddles -- regardless of where the truth may lie. Recently, she has become a denier of global climactic change.
One of her recent pronouncements is that, "Climate change is like gravity -- a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to fix it." There is a tiny bit of truth in that statement -- there are naturally occurring fluctuations. The lie comes in not telling the whole truth. Her partial truth is intentionally covering up a problem that will seriously affect our children and grandchildren in a very negative way.
It's not as if the truth is not there for her to learn. She could ask any scientist and learn that global climate change is a reality, and has been made much worse by the unthinking actions of man. She's simply not interested in the truth because it would upset her teabagger base (who have built a political movement out of denying truth).
Schwarzenegger knows the truth and sees right through her political game. Yesterday, he openly questioned her motives in denying the man-made effects on global climate change. He said, "You have to ask: what was she trying to accomplish? Is she really interested in this subject or is she interested in her career and in winning the (Republican presidential) nomination? You have to take all these things with a grain of salt."
Wow. The teabaggers are going to hate him for saying that. In their world, it's not permissable to tell the truth about Palin. It might knock her off of that pedestal they've put her on.
Thanks for telling the truth Arnold, but it may get you kicked out of the Republican Party. They don't seem to want any moderates like you in their party.
jeez, who knew? he has a brain
