2010 Tour de France Is Here !


The waiting is over because the 2010 Tour de France is finally here. This year's Tour started with an 8.9 kilometer time trial in Rotterdam, Holland that was held on Saturday. The winner (pictured) of the prologue was Swiss rider Fabian Cancellara (Saxo Bank), who bested the second place rider by 10 seconds. Tony Martin (HTC-Columbia) of Germany finished second and David Millar (Garmin-Transitions) of Great Britain was third.

There were four Americans finishing in the top eleven. This year there are four American-sponsored teams (the most ever). They are Radio Shack, HTC-Columbia, Garmin-Transitions, and BMC Racing. The first three have jumped into an early lead in the team standings, with Radio Shack in first so far.

Sunday's leg of the Tour will be a flat 225.5 kilometer ride from Rotterdam to Brussels, Belgium. Here are the standings (with country and team) after Saturday's prologue:
