Dems Can Have Bad Candidates Too

As regular readers of this blog will know, I am pretty harsh on Republicans and the candidates they offer up for election (or re-election). They have given us some real nuts like Michele Bachmann, Sharron Angle, Rand Paul, Louie Gohmert, and Steve King. But they are not the only ones who make a serious mistake in the candidates offered for public office. Sometimes the Democrats do it too.

Take for example the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina -- Alvin Greene. It's not bad enough that he has a pending felony sexual misconduct charge, but it looks like he may have lied to the court to get a court-appointed lawyer. Because after claiming to be indigent, he magically came up with around $10,000 to pay the filing fee to run for the senate nomination.

He shouldn't have won the nomination. I suspect it was because his opponent, who was not especially popular, ignored him during the campaign and let his complete lack of competence go unnoticed. It helped that he didn't have the money or inclination to campaign openly, which would have shown voters that he is not just unsuitable -- he's several bricks shy of a load.

It would be a kindness to say Greene is intellectually-deprived. He's a complete loon! Just look at his idea for job creation. In an interview with the U.K. newspaper The Guardian Greene said, "Another thing we can do for jobs is make toys of me, especially for the holidays. Little dolls. Me. Like maybe little action dolls. Me in an Army uniform, Air Force uniform, and me in my suit. They can make toys of me and my vehicle, especially for the holidays and Christmas for the kids. That's something that would create jobs. So you see I think out of the box like that. It's not something a typical person would bring up. That's something that could happen, that makes sense. It's not a joke."

That statement is too stupid (and narcissistic) to even waste a comment on. He's a complete embarrassment for the Democratic Party. I have never supported or voted for a Republican, but I cannot say it would be a tragedy for South Carolina to elect his opponent in the general election.
