Congress' Religious Affiliation

The Friendly Atheist shows us the religious make-up of the new Congress.   Like the Congress before it, the majority of the politicians are Protestants, with second place going to Catholics and third place to Jewish religion.   As usual, the atheists, agnostics and others with no religious affiliation have no representation -- even though they make up over 16% of the population.

  1. Ted, you should run for elected office. You've got a national constituency almost as big as us Baptists!

  4. Would you have my support? Hmmmm...

Well, you wouldn't be the first Democrat I'd voted for (I'm assuming you'd run on the Democratic ticket). And I can think of a lot worse candidates.

Maybe. I'll have to see what your platform would be.

The last Democrat I voted for was someone I knew personally, so I guess it's not totally out of the question.

And if that isn't a great reason for befriending people on the other side of the political spectrum, I don't know what is!
