jobsanger Is 5 Years Old !

This blog was started on March 16, 2006. That means that today it is officially 5 years old. And they have been a very good 5 years (as the five buttons above signify). It seems like only yesterday that I started blogging, and I was thrilled when the blog had 20 or 30 page views.

Things are different now. I have written 6,924 posts and the blog recently passed the half-million mark in page views, and the readership is growing with each passing month. I don't know whether I deserve it, but I am very grateful. And it's due to you readers. I want to let each and every one of you know that I am eternally grateful for your support (whether you are a lurker or a commenter -- both are appreciated).

I also want to thank Best of the Blogs and The Rag Blog, both of which allow me to cross-post some of my stuff, and Blogburst which offers my stuff to other media outlets. These guys have helped me to keep growing.

Now I must keep a blog tradition. Each year on this blogiversary I repost my very first post on the blog. As I have said before, it's not my best but it was my first. So here it is for one more time:

Hello out there! This is my first blog and my first attempt at blogging, so if you do accidently drop by and read the blog, cut me some slack. I hope to get better over time. This is not meant to be a news blog. This is an OPINION blog. This is my place to gripe, whine or blow my top when I get disgusted with politics, religion or culture in general. I am a left-winger who is not afraid of the "s" word. If you prefer to call me a socialist, that is fine with me. I am not a religious person, but I believe all people should be free to practice whatever religion they wish or none at all. I don't get upset until you start pushing it down other people's throats. I am a political Independent, since I see both the republicans and democrats as being corporate owned. Although I am male, I am pro-choice and consider myself to be a feminist. I believe in EQUAL RIGHTS FOR EVERYONE [no exceptions]. That should give you some idea of where I'm coming from. If you do read this blog, I hope you enjoy it and come back from time to time. Thanks!
