Anti-Union = Anti-American

A few thoughtful words from Arlo Guthrie (son of the legendary Woody Guthrie). Found at the site of Yellowdog Granny.

  1. "America IS a union."

So was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and how did that work out?

There's a world of difference between a trade union and a union of states. A trade union, by its very nature, is engaged in an adversarial relationship with management. Our adversarial relationship with the British Empire ended in 1776.

Now, if trade unionists want to sever their ties to the "evil" corporations that pay their salaries and form their own worker-owned corporations, I say let them.

But if they spent that much money, they would be nothing left over to pay into the coffers of the Democratic Party.
