As you may have heard, Texas is currently being plagued by wildfires covering an area larger than the state of Rhode Island. These fires have been burning for days and many homes have been lost -- and they have been made worse by the exceptionally dry conditions in this state.
But never fear, because Governor Perry has sprung into action. He flew over the disaster-affected area, and has now issued an official state proclamation. It says:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICK PERRY, Governor of Texas, under the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas, do hereby proclaim the three-day period from Friday, April 22, 2011, to Sunday, April 24, 2011, as Days of Prayer for Rain in the State of Texas. I urge Texans of all faiths and traditions to offer prayers on that day for the healing of our land, the rebuilding of our communities and the restoration of our normal and robust way of life.
Good Grief! This is the best he's got? What a doofus!!
NOTE -- He has asked for the federal government to send money (which is surprising considering the hate-speech he has directed at that same federal government recently). Of course he misused the money the feds sent to supplement school funds, so he'll probably do the same with any disaster money received by the state. After all, Texas has a budget deficit to fix.
This is so embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it does have me wondering what Texans did to make God so mad that he started fires in the first place?
Plus, maybe we can have a Day of Prayer now so that texans can get health care, jobs, and better schools...
I keep telling everyone..if 3 days of prayer would work, he wouldn't still be governor.
