As this chart from
Mother Jones shows, productivity in the United States has grown by 80% since 1979 but the wages of workers had virtually remained stagnant. Where has all the money gone? To the richest 1% of Americans, whose income has risen more than 240% in the same time period. Americans are working harder than ever, and the richest Americans are the only ones reaping any benefit from it. While this may be the Republican dream, it is nothing less than the slow death of the American Dream.
