Republican right-wingers are claiming that we can't cut our
military budget or we would be in danger of falling behind China. The above chart shows just how ridiculous that kind of talk is. We could cut our military budget in half and we would still be spending several times as much as China. We need to stop listening to the right-wing lies.
Interesting to note that every year since 1989 the Chinese have increased their military budget just a little bit. I wonder if that's just an inflationary adjustment or do they perceive a threat somewhere?
