Unemployment By States

The top map shows which states have Democratic or Republican governors, while the bottom map shows the unemployment figures for each state in August of 2011. Note that almost all of the states with the highest unemployment figures have Republican governors (with the notable exception being California, who just replaced a Republican governor). How can this be? Aren't they supposed to understand the wonderful magic of "trickle-down" economic theory? Here are the states with the worst unemployment figures:

Nevada...............13.4%
California...............12.1%
Michigan...............11.2%
South Carolina...............11.1%
Florida...............10.7%
Rhode Island...............10.6%
North Carolina...............10.4%
Mississippi...............10.3%
Georgia...............10.2%
Alabama...............9.9%
Illinois...............9.9%

Wow! If the Republicans get back in the White House, it will be worst than that. They desire to finish the job of making our country a serfdom and ease in China's wage system.

  3. Here are the states with the best unemployment figures:

    North Dakota……….. 3.5%
    Nebraska……………… 4.2%
    South Dakota……….. 4.7%
    New Hampshire…… 5.3%
    Oklahoma……………. 5.6%
    Wyoming……………. 5.8%
    Vermont…………….. 5.9%

Five out of seven are red states. How can this be? Aren't they supposed to understand the abject failure of "trickle-down" economic theory?

  4. Are you aware of any data that shows a correlation over time? I'd like to see how this trends.
