"Occupy Wall Street" Movement Still Spreading

Corporations and right-wing groups were hoping they could demonize the Occupy Wall Street movement by calling them "socialists" and other derogatory names and inferring they are anti-capitalist or anti-American, but they have failed miserably. The movement not only continues to grow, but has spread across the country -- and now reaches even into smaller cities in the reddest areas of the country like Lubbock and Amarillo in Texas (and as the bottom picture above shows, even to areas where there are no cities).

But it doesn't stop there. As of last weekend, the movement has now moved beyond the borders of the United States. At least 1500 cities worldwide held protests linked to the Occupy Wall Street movement (see pictures above for some of those demonstrations). It seems that "economic justice" strikes a chord with people around the world, as well it should. The United States is far from the only country where the rich want the whole economic cake to themselves, leaving only crumbs for everyone else.

It has even reached the point where the politicians (in both parties) are beginning to talk about having sympathy for the protesters (instead of bad-mouthing them as they were doing at first). The politicians are finally starting to realize that this is a real grassroots movement composed of ordinary people who are fed up with corporate greed, vast wealth and income inequality, and a government that has been sold to the highest bidders. They haven't yet started to propose any real solutions, but they are getting scared (and having nightmares about being booted out of office).

But to be truly effective the movement needs to keep growing -- until it is so large that it cannot be denied. I urge those of you who are protesting to keep up the good fight. And for those of you who have not yet joined, I urge you to stand with your fellow citizens and help to create a better world -- for ourselves and for our children and grandchildren. After all, the powerful have never given up anything willingly throughout history. The people must stand together and demand change -- or it will not happen.

Do your part to make this a better world for everyone.
