Enthusiasm Gap ? - Really ?

I keep reading that the Republicans have a large enthusiasm gap over the Democrats in the upcoming election, especially in the presidential race. Frankly, I'm having a hard time believing it. One recent poll showed that more Republicans will be voting against the president than will be voting for Willard Mitt Romney, their own nominee. This is not really surprising, considering that a large part of the Republican base went through a whole list of candidates, many of them real nut-jobs, trying to find a candidate, any candidate, besides Romney.

Then we have the crowds. It seems that the president regularly pulls in huge crowds where ever he goes - crowds numbering in the many thousands. Meanwhile, the Romney campaigns will brag if they get over a thousand people -- and two thousand is worthy of a celebration!

But maybe the biggest symbol of a campaign in trouble, a campaign lacking in much enthusiasm at all, is the sign pictured above (found at the website Recall All Republicans). Does the Romney campaign really have to pick and choose which supporters will sit in the important sections, the sections the TV cameras will be catching? That's just sad, and it's admitting that much of the crowd that come to see the Republican candidate are still not truly sold on him.

This looks like a campaign in trouble to me.
