When we talk about the wage gap in America, it is mostly discussed in terms of a gender gap -- that women do not get paid the same as men for the same work. That is true, and it is a serious problem that needs to be corrected. But it is not the only wage gap this country has. As the chart above shows, white men get substantially more than than any other group in our society for the work they do. Isn't it time to recognize that all people, regardless of sex or race or ethnicity, deserves the same pay that white men get for the same work?
