Yellow Dog Granny reminds us that a lot of fundamentalist christians in this country believe the American flag is a religious symbol, interchangeable with the cross in representing their version of christianity. It is not. That flag is a secular symbol for a secular country -- made up of people from many different religions, and people with no religion at all. In fact, by guaranteeing religious freedom to all citizens, the Constitution itself prevents the use of our flag as a symbol for any specific religion.
