This is very true. Every working American has been positively affected by the existence of unions, whether they have ever been in a union or not. Capitalists have never given anything to workers of their own free will except poverty wages. If you enjoy a 40 hour workweek, paid vacation and/or sick leave, a safe working environment, retirement or health care benefits, and many other things some workers now take for granted, then you should thank the union movement. These things weren't freely and generously given by capitalists, but earned with the blood of union men and women.
