Same-Sex Relationships Are Gaining Worldwide Acceptance
We have seen numerous polls in the United States regarding same-sex relationships -- and they all show this country has changed its attitude (even to the point of a majority of Americans now being willing to see same-sex marriage legalized). That is a huge shift in the opinion of Americans, particularly in the last decade. But this is not just happening in the United States. Acceptance of same-sex relationships is gaining acceptance in many other countries also. The only hold-outs are the undeveloped nations ruled by a fundamentalist religious government.
The charts above are from the Pew Research Center's Global Attitudes Project. Also interesting is the fact that the age 18 to 29 group is the most approving, with the 30 to 49 group being the second most approving, and the 50 and over group showing the least approval. And that is true of almost all countries -- even those not yet willing to accept same-sex relationships. That is a good sign that, as older people die off and are replaced by younger people, the approval of granting equal rights and acceptance to the LGBT community will only grow stronger in the future (and gain acceptance in more countries).
