Government Can Do It Better

Right-wingers would have everyone believe that the private sector can do everything better than the government can. That's just not true. There are things that they government can do better -- like defending the country, apprehending and housing criminals, and collecting intelligence on our enemies. And I would add providing health insurance to that list. Why should we pay profit for some capitalist in any of these ventures? Doesn't that just add to the cost? And doesn't privatization just give some individual or company an excuse to cut corners and provide shoddy and inferior service to increase their profits? Privatization is not the answer to better government. It is only an excuse to funnel more taxpayer money into corporate bank accounts.
