    No.

Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution defines treason and its punishment.

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted."

    I repeat:

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." [Emphasis added]

The actions that Reich cites have nothing to do with levying war or giving aid and comfort to the enemy. There's a huge difference between a sworn enemy of the United States and a political opponent.

Freedom of speech, freedom of the press and the right to petition government for redress of grievances are all enshrined in the Constitution. It matters not how loud the speech, how big the press or how impassioned the petition.

"Buying up the media so the public cannot know the truth"? In the Age of the Internet, with fact checkers and watchdogs having free reign to post their critiques on YouTube, where they can go viral in virtually no time? Get serious! We're living in the most UN-censored society in history.

And trying to limit the powers of government (what Reich refers to as "shrinking and dismembering") is an American tradition. Ever hear of the Declaration of Independence?

If disagreeing with someone's point of view can be called treason, then we're all guilty. If "bribing and intimidating many current senators and representatives" is treason, then we might as well shut down K Street - not a bad idea actually, so long as all the lobbyists (Left as well as Right) are sent packing.

  3. Sounds like Reich touched a nerve there, CT.

I just think hyperbole has no place in politics, whether it's this from the Left, or "Obama is a Communist" from the Right. I like my politics a little more factual and dispassionate.
