Religious Groups Differ On President Obama Job Approval

I just thought this was interesting -- how the various religious groups differ when it comes to approving of the job President Obama is doing. The president scores very well among muslims (72%), Jews (55%), the other non-christian religions (59%), and the Americans who are not religious (54%). I think all of these groups appreciate that President Obama is not trying to impose his version of christianity on them, but respects the true meaning of religious freedom.

The catholics give the president a 44% approval rating -- about the same as the general public. The lowest job approval rating comes from the mormons. That's not really a surprise since the president beat a mormon to secure his second term, and the mormons are a very conservative group (especially on social issues). Protestants as a group give the president a 37% approval rating. I believe the evangelicals, who have many ministers illegally preaching Republicanism from the pulpit, bring this percentage down. They don't like his support of same-sex marriage, or his preventing the establishment of a christian theocracy in the United States.

The chart was made from information provided in a Gallup Poll -- which questioned a random national sample of 88,801 adults between January and June of 2014. The survey has a 1 point margin of error because of the huge sample.
