Who Are The Climate Change Deniers ?
This chart reflects information contained in a new Economist / YouGov Poll that was done between August 9th and 11th of a random national sample of 1,000 adults (with a margin of error of about 4 points).
The story we get from the corporate-owned media is that this country is split over whether global warming is man-made -- and that is why nothing has been done to curb it. That's a load of crap. The U.S. public understands that it is human-caused pollution that is driving global climate change by a 21 point margin (54% to 33%). And that includes majorities of both sexes and all races.
The truth is that the opposition to taking action to curb global climate change is purely political. Note that the only groups saying it is not caused by human actions are Republicans and conservatives -- the groups who long ago sold out to corporate interests (to fund their own reach for power). If they admitted global warming was caused by human actions, then they would have to take action against their corporate masters -- forcing them to stop polluting and clean up the mess they are making. And they know that would jeopardize the hundreds of millions of dollars those corporations are pouring into Republican electoral efforts (mainly, but not wholly, through PAC's and SuperPAC's).
This is a prime example of just how much control the giant corporations have in this country -- both over our political system and our media.
