Obamacare Grows In Popularity As Uninsured % Declines

Here's a bit of good news for Democrats. Support for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) continues to grow. About 46% of Americans now say they approve of the health care reform law, while 49% say they disapprove. That's the highest approval rate ever registered in the Rasmussen Poll, and the first time the approval has been within the poll's margin of error with disapproval.

And remember, a significant hunk of those saying they disapprove don't want the law repealed. They want Congress to make it even better. The public knows Obamacare wasn't a perfect answer to the country's health care problems -- but they also know it's a hell of a lot better than what we had before.

That top chart is from a new Rasmussen Poll -- done on January 3rd and 4th of a random national sample of 1,000 likely voters, with a 3 point margin of error.

Why is this happening? Probably because a growing number of Americans are finding they can now afford health insurance coverage. The chart below reflects the falling percentage of uninsured Americans. Note that every single group has seen a dip  in the percentage of uninsured people in that group. Time is running out for the Republican opposition to Obamacare.

The bottom chart is from the Gallup Poll -- and represents interviews done between October 1st and December 30th of 43,016 adults, with a margin of error of 1 point.
