Today is the ninth anniversary of the birth of this blog. In those nine years, I have posted over 18,400 times and those posts have received more than 2.37 million page-views (according to Google). That's not too shabby for a single-person progressive blog emanating from the reddest area of a very red state (the Llano Estacado area of Texas).
As jobsanger enters its tenth year, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who read this blog. Your support is deeply appreciated, and buoys me in my effort to continue blogging -- hopefully for many more years.
In keeping with what has become a tradition on this blog, I repost below the very first post ever made on jobsanger:
Hello out there! This is my first blog and my first attempt at blogging, so if you do accidently drop by and read the blog, cut me some slack. I hope to get better over time. This is not meant to be a news blog. This is an OPINION blog. This is my place to gripe, whine or blow my top when I get disgusted with politics, religion or culture in general. I am a left-winger who is not afraid of the "s" word. If you prefer to call me a socialist, that is fine with me. I am not a religious person, but I believe all people should be free to practice whatever religion they wish or none at all. I don't get upset until you start pushing it down other people's throats. I am a political Independent, since I see both the republicans and democrats as being corporate owned. Although I am male, I am pro-choice and consider myself to be a feminist. I believe in EQUAL RIGHTS FOR EVERYONE [no exceptions]. That should give you some idea of where I'm coming from. If you do read this blog, I hope you enjoy it and come back from time to time. Thanks!
happy birthday jobsanger!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy.
ReplyDeleteKeep posting jobsanger. I look every day. I may not comment often but that's probably because I agree with your posts. You are brave to live in the Llano Estacado. I used to live in San Antonio, Austin, Houston, San Angelo, and New Braunfels. Family members still live in Houston, Dallas, and Galveston areas. So I have an idea of the depth of your commitment. Your's is a lonely voice in the 'red sea' that is Texas. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks GB -- I appreciate the sentiment.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday..I have stolen so much stuff from you over the years..here's to many more years. you are going to have to come to Westfest one of these years.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jackiesue. I've "borrowed" a lot from you too.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogday!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barry.
