All Age Groups Now Say Gay/Lesbian Relations Are Moral

It is undeniable that a significant majority of Americans now support the right of gays and lesbians to legally marry. The general idea of most is that this change in attitude is mainly driven by young people, but that is not completely true. It turns out that while young people are the most accepting, all age groups have displayed a growing acceptance of gay and lesbian relationships in the last 15 years -- and currently all age groups find the idea morally acceptable.

This is quite a change from 2001, when 27% of 55/older, 42% of 35/54, and 52% of 18/34 age groups said that. Now those numbers stand at 55% for 55/older, 58% for 35/54, and 79% for 18/34. That's a 28 point rise for older people, a 16 point rise for those in the middle, and a 27 point rise for young people. Those are some huge numbers, and show this is an issue that has been decided by the public.

The chart was made from a new Gallup Poll released this week.
