I was listening to an interview with Robert M Price. He was talking about how Christian apologists claim that the pre-Christian dying-and-rising cults were just created by Satan because he knew that Jesus was coming and wanted to confuse people. It is perhaps the most ridiculous bit of apologetics I've ever heard, but it is widespread. Anyway, Price remarked, "What is this?! Salvation through gullibility?" I love that phrase! But it does seem that for the Abrahamic religions at least, my being a believer would require that "God" made me without my best qualities.
