GOP Is Out-Of-Touch With The Public On Gun Control

The following charts were made from information in a new YouGov Poll -- done between June 14th and 16th of a random national sample of 1,000 adults, with a 4.8 point margin of error.

It would behoove the Republicans to pay attention to this poll. They have enough of a problem with Trump being their nominee, and being on the wrong side of the gun issue could make things even worse.

It turns out that 83% of Americans think gun violence is a serious problem, 56% believe mass shootings can be stopped, 55% think gun control laws should be made more strict, 62% think assault weapons should be banned, and 86% think those on a terrorist watch list (or no-fly list) should be banned from buying a weapon.

Add to this the fact that numerous other polls show that between 80% and 90% of the public wants the loopholes in the background check law for gun buyers to be plugged -- and you have the GOP opposing public sentiment on nearly every gun issue.
