Media And Delegate Badges For State Convention.

These are the badges issued to me at the Texas Democratic Convention.

The media badge was easy to get. The party had already e-mailed me saying they would issue it, and they did it without question.

It was the delegate badge that turned out to be hard to get. Back at the county convention, I happily accepted an alternate delegate position -- because I knew that the entire delegation selected at the county level almost never shows up at the state convention without at least a few people missing. In the past, it has been easy to raise an alternate to delegate status.

But when I showed up at the delegate desk to request an upgrade, I was told there was no longer any such thing as an alternate delegate, and although about half the Potter County delegation didn't show up, there was no way to make me a delegate. To say I complained a little would be an understatement. I complained a LOT. They finally decided that there was a way they could make me a delegate, and issued the delegate badge. As they say, it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.
