Survey Shows Trump Lying About Undocumented Immigrants

In his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has tried to scare American voters about undocumented immigrants. He has said there is an explosion of new immigrants crossing our southern border and taking jobs away from American citizens. That is a lie!

The charts above are from a survey done by the Pew Research Center. The top chart shows that the number of undocumented immigrants working in the United States has been fairly stable since the Bush recession -- and has actually slightly decreased. The second chart shows the percentage of the U.S. labor force composed of undocumented. Note that the percentage has also decreased.

The third chart shows why this is true. Although the U.S. labor force has increased between 2009 and 2014 by about 3.5 million people, that increase of citizen workers is about 2.5 million and the increase of documented immigrants is about 1.4 million. The number of undocumented workers has decreased by about 100,000.

There is NO increase in the number of undocumented immigrants crossing the border to work in our economy. Donald Trump is lying. Don't let his lies scare you into voting for him.
