Most Americans Still Say Country Going In Wrong Direction

For quite a while now, a huge majority of Americans say the country is moving in the wrong direction. Some may have thought that putting a Republican in the White House to work with the Republican-controlled Congress might help that perception, but it hasn't. Currently, about 7 out of 10 people (69%) still think the country is moving in the wrong direction.

One group has seen an improvement in those numbers -- Republicans. But other Americans are not impressed by what they've seen from this new government. And I expect those numbers will drop further if the Republicans are able to put their wishes into law -- repealing Obamacare, cutting Social Security and Medicare, keeping minimum wage low, cutting taxes for the rich and corporations, and abandoning efforts to clean the environment and stop global climate change.

The latest Gallup Poll on this issue was done between March 1st and 5th of a random national sample of 1,018 adults, with a 4 point margin of error.
