Congressional Job Approval Is Still Very Low

The job approval of Congress is still at a monthly low of 20%. It seems that the 115th Congress is not any more popular than the last three or four.

Shortly after Trump's inauguration, Republicans had high hopes for Congress. About 50% approved of the job Congress was doing -- driving overall approval up to 28%. But they have been disappointed by the inability of the Republican-controlled Congress to get any of their campaign promises passed, and approval by the Republican base has dropped 22 point since then.

These charts are from a new Gallup Poll -- done between May 3rd and 7th of a random national sample of 1,011 adults, with a margin of error of 4 points.
