A Majority Of Americans Don't Think Trump Is Honest
Since his election, Donald Trump's job approval numbers have been upside-down. The chart above gives us a clue as to why that is true (in addition to the fact that the Trump administration has accomplished nothing in its first six months).
A majority of Americans (53%) say Trump is NOT honest and trustworthy, while only 31% say he is -- a huge gap of 22 points. And that is the general opinion of all demographic groups (gender, age, race, income). This must be fixed before Trump can get better job approval numbers.
But he's not even trying to fix it. He keeps telling outrageous and easily disprovable lies. Those lies may be accepted by his base, but they aren't accepted by most of the public. And most people are not about to approve of any politician they don't trust.
The chart above reflects the results of a new Economist / YouGov Poll -- done on July 31st and August 1st of a random national sample of 1,500 adults (including 1,329 registered voters), with a 3.2 point margin of error.
