I was lucky, I was able to talk to my grandparents about the Depression and the War. They told me how the country pulled together in its darkest hours. That’s what Patriotism meant and that what it still means to me. It has nothing to do with the current flag waving selfish "freedum” zealots that we see today.
More than 40 years after the event, my Grandmother still got all choked up while telling me about listening to President Roosevelt’s "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself” speech on the radio.
