Democrats Still Favored To Win Control Of The House

As long as Democrats (and Independents) actually follow through and go to the polls, it looks like they still have a great chance to flip control of the House of Representatives. The chart above shows the results of the newest NBC News / Wall Street Journal Poll -- done between August 18th and 22nd of a national sample of 900 registered voters, with a margin of error of 3.27 points. It shows the Democrats holding an 8 point advantage right now. But the most remarkable thing is that the Democratic advantage has held pretty steady for the last 16 months.

The chart below is from fivethirtyeight.com. It shows the current prediction for the election is that Democrats have a 5 in 7 (72.7%) chance to win control of the House, while Republicans have a 2 in 7 (27.3%) chance of retaining control. The Democrats are predicted to win 233 seats while the Republicans retain 202 seats.
