Public Overwhelmingly Opposes Overturning Roe Vs. Wade
The chart above reflects the results of a new Axios / SurveyMonkey Poll -- done between September 5th and 7th of a national sample of 2,033 adults, with a 3 point margin of error.
It looks like Trump's Supreme Court nominee (Brett Kavanaugh) will be confirmed by the Senate. That's bad news for women, because he has made it pretty clear that he would vote to overturn the Roe vs. Wade decision -- which has been the law of the land for over 40 decades. That would shift control over women's bodies from each woman (and her doctor) to legislatures dominated by men.
But that is not what the American public wants. The public overwhelmingly opposes overturning that court decision. Only 23% of adults and registered voters would support overturning Roe vs. Wade, while 71% of adults and 73% of registered voters would oppose that. And that is the feeling of every demographic group -- including Republicans, who oppose it by a 5 point margin.
