These Charts Show Why Health Care Is A Big Issue
When voters are polled about the issues that are important to them, health care is always one of the biggest concerns. That's why Democrats are campaigning on fixing health care, and Republicans are either ignoring it or lying about it (like saying they support not penalizing those with pre-existing conditions, even though they voted to eliminate them many times).
The charts above are from PolitiFact. They show why health care remains a big issue for Americans.
1. While Obamacare significantly reduced the number of Americans without health insurance, the number has now started to rise again (thanks to GOP efforts to destroy Obamacare.
2. The prices of health care in the U.S. consistently rise faster than the rate of inflation.
3. Health insurance premiums (both family premiums and worker contributions) continue to rise much faster than either wages or inflation.
4. Between 52 and 61million Americans are estimated to have pre-existing conditions (while 20 GOP state governments are pursuing a lawsuit to eliminate the provision of Obamacare that says insurance companies cannot refuse to cover those with them or charge more for that coverage).
The Republicans are on the wrong side of the health care issue, and their health care bumbling in Congress is starting to drive more Americans to consider Medicare-For All as a possible option.
