Trump Wanted Blame For Shutdown - Now He Has It

A few days ago, in a meeting with Democrats Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, Donald Trump threatened to shut down the government if they didn't give him money to build a wall on our southern border. He went even further, and said he would take full responsibility for the shutdown, and would not blame Democrats. It seems that was just another of his many lies.

He followed through on his threat to shut down the government when Congress refused to give him $5 billion for the wall. But he now doesn't want to accept the responsibility for his actions. Instead of accepting responsibility for his shutdown of the government, he is now trying to shift the blame onto Democrats -- exactly what he said he wouldn't do.

It's not working though. The American people didn't want a government shutdown over border wall funding (55% no to 31% yes), and they blame Trump and his Republican cohorts for the shutdown (51% Trump/GOP to 31% Democrats). He wanted the blame, and a majority of Americans think he deserves it.

I know he is trying to please right-wing pundits (Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh, etc.) and his base of deplorable by shutting down the government over wall funding, but I don't think he realizes how weak his position is at this time.

Poll after poll has shown a majority of the public doesn't want a wall. He is being blamed for the shutdown. And with each passing day, he gets closer to a Democratically-controlled House of Representatives. And those Democrats are chomping at the bit to flex their new-found muscle. They won't give him anything for his wall.

Trump and his right-wing cohorts may not want to admit it, but there isn't going to be any wall built. They can put that silly idea back on the shelf, because it just isn't going to happen.
