Democrats Have Much Better Net Favorable Rating

The chart above uses information in the new Economist / YouGov Poll -- done between January 12th and 15th of a national sample of 1,500 adults, with a 3 point margin of error.

It shows the net favorability rating of the two parties and their leaders. Net favorability is determined by subtracting unfavorable percentage from the favorable percentage.

Both parties and all their leaders are in negative numbers (meaning more view them unfavorably than favorably), but Democrats are viewed more favorably than Republicans. The Democratic Party has a negative 3 net favorability, while the Republican Party has a negative 26.

The same is true of their leaders. Pelosi and Schumer both have a negative 12. McCarthy has a negative 10, but that is because twice as many people don't know enough about him to rate him than know about Pelosi. The two most unfavorable are McConnell (negative 26) and Trump (negative 17).

And McConnell, Trump, and the Republican Party are not doing themselves any good by maintaining the government shutdown.
