The following was found at LA Progressive:
Someone on Quora asked “Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:
A few things spring to mind.
Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.
For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.
So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever.
I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman.
But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers.
And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface.
Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront.
Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul.
And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.
Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that.
He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat.
He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully.
That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead.
There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss.
After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.
God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid.
He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart.
In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.
And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish:
‘My God… what… have… I… created?
If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.
And their description of the trumpkin applies to the ahole dimwits who voted for him too.!
ReplyDeleteThe author has a great command of the language but not so much with the truth. What is it, envy? Does he envy Trump’s wealth? His success? His fame? His great family? Or does he envy his lifetime of building great businesses and employing so many people. Foreigners envy America’s success and it is obvious that this foreigner envies MAGA!
DeleteHi Leroy.
DeleteHis wealth cane from his father scamming the poor and taking advantage of government programs aka handouts. It was passed down through illegal means to evade tax. And he’s not nearly as rich as he claims, which will be revealed soon when his tax returns are made public. He makes money currently by operating businesses that profit from his presidency.
His success? Seriously? He’s a lame ass failed reality tv douche who inherited his money and can’t manage or negotiate.
His family is as compromised and terrible as he is, and will soon be up in front of judges for choosing money over their country.
White supremacy is never what made America great, and it won’t help this time either. MAGA hats are this generation’s swastika.
Yes.
DeleteI believe Leroy proves the author's point that about 1/3 of the American people look at what that diagnosed psychopath is and does, and make the stupid decision to support even more nastiness and stupidity. In their hard-to-understand cultish devotion, they are blind to how stupid and nasty they make themselves look to everyone else.
DeleteLeroy Pyle? Related to Gomer?
Deletetotal moral failure!
DeleteI am an American. I lived in England for a year, which gives me some perspective on the amazing folks in the UK..as well as the shameful example of a so-called leader we have whose name also is British slang for fart (Yanks may not realize that if you "trump" in the UK...it means you've passed wind...yah...ironic eh?) The article in its entirety is fully accurate and yes, it disgusts me that some of my fellow Americans voted and still support this "lyin', cheatin', conman :(
DeleteHave you seen the $127 million Trumplinks golf course that was built in the Bronx with New York's tax money, we call that "Bad Socialism" because he does not have to pay back that money to New York. That money could have been used to build senior or veteran affordable housing in the same spot, with access to shopping and health services. He did the same thing to Puerto Rico he personally owes the island a lot of money, $330 million for a Golf Club, he purchased and then walked away a year later and claim bankruptcy. I grew up watching Trump's family get away with a lot of things, I would think just another mob trying to get away with (can't say murder) crap!
DeleteOh, Leroy...
DeleteYou ignorant fool. Just like the 1/3 the author spoke of. Too ignorant to see what is right in front of your face.
Or is it you cannot admit that you elected a monkey who is the pet of a Russian organ-grinder that makes him lie and deceive for his sheer enjoyment to undermine our government into the mockery it is?
The warnings and signs about who he is and what he would do to this country you ignored.
Now, you are seeing the truth behind this person and you would rather deny what is so painfully obvious than admit you were wrong. They say it takes a great man to admit when he is wrong.
You, just like the monkey you support, can never admit to being wrong. It's always somebody else.
Bear, I hope you can separate Russian gangsters (most of whom were created by US after the fall of the Soviet Union) from Russians and their government. They are not the same and Russians do not deserve to be villified because of Trump’s desperate grasp for cash.
DeleteAnd not even the MAGA hats were made in America !
DeleteI cannot, and WILL NOT support any human who is behind such hideousness that is represented in this reprehensible account of a man. He is a pathological liar, he is a cheat, a bully, a conman, a theif, and (my favorite) a white supremacist, much like his father, and grandfather. The ones who stand behind him have been a soiled portion of the fabric of our society, and Trump's election certainly knocked over enough stones to let the vermin crawl out from under them. They say he is a "Christian," but, most of the Christians I know are decent, kind people. None of his ilk are. These are people who would see my friends and family exiled, imprisoned, or, murdered. He does worship a particular god. The statue of THAT ONE resides on Wall Street in the form of a great Golden Bull. Go look at your history/mythology books, and you will find the name of Ba'al. His preferred sacrifice is children.
DeleteElroy Pile...seek help.
DeleteBrexit is an example of Trump thinking. I appreciate how Trump thinks and his policies. I approve of Brexit, too.
DeleteBeautiful written. It takes a good Brit to adequately describe what we in the U.S. are living with. Many, many thanks!
DeleteI am amazed at the Authors accurate description of the Orange one.I cannot believe how many people close their eyes to what this man truly is, a Liar, Cheater, adulterer, Racist, Bully, and most definitely a mean spiteful, hateful person. #RESIGNTRUMP #IMPEACHTRAITOROUSTRUMP #IMPEACHTRUMPADMINISTRATION
DeleteRick, I guess that makes you as big a dickhead as your idol, Fartman, I mean Trump. All I can say to that is I hope you burn in hell you Nazi wannabe.
DeleteMerciful heavens Leroy. Are you really that dumb? I live in a Republican hell hole & I don't hear
Deletetripe like you typed around here. Most people I have encountered are humiliated by what they
have since learned about that vile man who squats in the Oval Office pretending to be Oh so rich.
They have learned a lot about that fraud in two yrs. Let's hope they have learned/observed enough to make them vote for anyone but that greedy thug.
The author has a great command of the language, which you do not, and you don't want to know the truth. You envy Trump’s wealth, success and fame. Foreigners don't envy America’s success.
DeleteYOU GOT THAT RIGHT...ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO "STILL" SUPPORT THIS DUMBASS.!
DeleteThis is Very much an Englishmans twisted Point of View on Donald Trump-Many Scottish people embrace Mr Trump as 1 of Our Own with his mother being Scottish-We consider his Qualities of going against The American Establishment not dissimilar from the Scots longstanding opposition to English Rule.I for One Would Like to See Mr Trump be a 1st Minister of a Free Scotland One Fine Day.
DeleteGary, I will pray for you to get your wish. Get the vermin out of the U.S.
DeleteActually, Leroy, it's yet another American delusion that foreigners envy America's 'success'. On the whole, Europeans see little to envy in a country in which 28 million people have no health cover and another 41 million are underinsured; where 35 million a year die from gunshot wounds; and where there is no paid maternity leave (the only developed country not to provide it). We feel quite kindly towards Americans, but don't particularly want to emulate them.
DeleteMake America Great Again....would one of you MAGA hat-wearers favor us with an explanation: JUST WHAT DOES IT MEAN??
DeleteAhhh...but what a smart businessman!! Just what America needs to make us GREAT AGAIN!!
ReplyDeleteRight down to his latest bankruptcy 'America'...
DeleteI hope that’s ironic.
DeleteLeroy - you obviously have been taken in by all his lies. Get real, he has raped & pillaged this country more than anyone, his favorite people are billionaire conmen & dictators, his family is set up like a “Mafia” controlled organization, but his sons are just blocks knocked off his back. He’s a disgrace and needs to be removed from office before there is anymore damage!
DeleteLeroy pick up the book Making of Donald Trump. He is no where as rich as he says he is.
DeleteYou got to be kidding me. Are you living in done alternate universe. If the author wrote all the specifics this would’ve turned into a book.
DeleteNice sarcasm
DeleteFor those of you who have not noticed, America was never great. What it has always been is a war monger and the economy has always been dependent on either the creation of or active support of war. I have family and very dear friends living in the states for whom I have great sympathy.
DeleteWherever you live, I hope it wasn't a place that America helped liberate in the second world war. Or that benefited from their participation in the Great War.
DeleteNo "successful businessman" gets barred for life from access to credit by every single bank in America and most of the Western world.
DeleteNo "successful businessman" bankrupts cash cows like gambling casinos again and again.
A genuinely rich man feels no need to endlessly brag how rich he is any more than truly smart people have to brag how smart they are.
We in New York have had Prima Donny's numbers for a very long time. We know this fool. That's why he couldn't carry his own home state in the election. A far as we are concerned, people vote for Trump either because they are poorly informed, gullible, and easily led or because they have abysmally low standards. Only a loser with no personal familiarity with truly successful people would mistake a bloviating cream puff in more makeup than corpse for someone worthy of admiration.
Nailed it.
DeleteSimply put Trumplthinskin is several sandwiches short of a picnic.
DeleteIn only TWO businesses do people walk in, take out ALL their money, give it to the staff then walk out with nothing -- churches/religions and casinos.
DeleteTrump has bankrupted 2 casinos once and 1 casino TWICE. How is it even POSSIBLE to bankrupt a bloody CASINO?!? You really HAVE to be some kind of SuperStupid and Crazy incompetent to do it, but Trump did it FOUR TIMES!!!
Love the more makeup than a corpse comment!
DeleteAmen to L.Long
ReplyDeleteSpot on!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely 100% ACCURATE!!! Which is scary as heck when you think about it!
ReplyDeleteRight to the very rotten core of Donald J Trump America's Great White Joke...
ReplyDelete☆ ☆ TRUMP 2020 ☆ ☆
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with you he needs to go to prison, 2,020 months is well over 150 years. That seems excessive. Let's just make it 20 years and be done with it.
DeleteHow incredibly accurate...his happiest critics are the comics and writers; thanks for joining the bash, our only respite until some fortunate occurance saves us from him.
ReplyDeleteWriting for SNL is now a government job
DeleteThere should be rules put in place so that never again will it be possible to have a divisive crook in the Oval Office.
DeleteBefore choosing a nominee, submit their taxes, complete background check, includeing education level, SAT scores, IQ test.
Also, health test, mental stability test, implemented by an independent provider.
Thanks, Leroy. You are a courageous man. The author was just regurgitating what he read and heard in the news. (Lazy conjecture) If I had a farm, I would bet that he did not sit down and have a man-to-man talk with Trump To form his own opinion.
ReplyDeleteNo one needs to "sit down and have a man-to-man talk with Trump" to know he is an amoral, narcissistic, and dangerous fool. His words and actions have shown that.
DeleteLazy conjecture? Mama, have you not heard him publically bully people? Have you not heard him in his own voice stand in front of cameras and call the murderer Putin a truth teller and his own FBI and CIA liars? And if you are a decent human being as you claim here then you certainly can't approve of a man who was heard on TV talking to Billy Bush admitting and bragging that because he was famous he could and did grab women by the pussy without their consent. Also, if you are a decent human being you cannot approve of him saying John McCain was a loser because he was a POW of war when he himself never served and dodged the draft. Certainly, in my home state of South Carolina you would not approve of him making fun of a journalist who had a physical handicap on National TV. If you missed any of these events, which by the way are just the tip of the iceberg, I suggest you go to youtube and look those incidents up and watch. The man is right in this articel when he says, "You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man." You just have to want to see them. Follow him on Twitter, watch how he speaks to people at press releases or at anytime he speaks. You would have to be daft to miss that what this man said is true; like it or not.
DeleteMaga man, troll much? 💙🌊
DeleteShortly no one in the USA at all will have a farm.
DeleteTo have a "man-to-man talk" don't both parties have to be a man? Donnie boy is no man!!
DeleteThe American People, American businesses,American Military, and the American diplomatic corps are Making America Great Again. Not because of Donald Trump, but despite Donald Trump.
Delete"...the author was just regurgitating what he read and heard in the news..."
DeleteAnd in dozens of books written about him, in hours of court documents and congressional testimony. the guy is as dirty as dirty comes and he lies simply because he has been asked something.
Well, actually he lies because he is a Russian asset and has been since legitimate banks stopped lending his incompetent ass money in the 1990's. Hard to tell if y'all are just stupid like most of his true followers, or if you are stupid AND purposely blind to his obvious faults. Faults, ha! Obvious trolling treachery. He has made America great again, alright, a great cautionary tale.
Just like Germans don't like to talk about what they enthusiastically and vocally made happen in the 1930's, venting all of their hate and frustration on innocents, aiding in the deaths of millions of people. That will be you. All of you. You fucking idiots in your red Nazi hats. History will record every one of your grinning dipshit faces for the wall of shame as you slobbered all over yourselves to defend this stain on humanity.
Typical of you fucking morons to shit all over one of the best presidents this nation will ever have because he was black and that threatens your paper-thin fragile little white egos--in favor of that shitrod. I hope you live to rue the day--I hope we all live to hear you explain your dipshit exuberance to your grandchildren when they ask how you could have been such fucking morons.
On behalf of the idiots here in the states, I would like to apologize for this Dotard and his cult members. I sit here, amazed every day by the words that come out of his mouth and the people that continue to support him. It shakes me to the core.
DeleteHere we go again. There is no substance in this article. It's just insults and name calling. Where are the details? Give us some specifics. What has he said, specifically, that leads you to believe he is racist or stupid? Give us policy issues, specifically, that you disagree with. What do you think he has done, or will do, specifically, that we are not or will not benefit from. I have debates with family or friends that when asked for specifics or examples, turn into 'adolescent' name calling or over talk. It's getting old. Step up! Support your statements! I'm willing to listen. Hard not to feel as though comments like this from folks like you don't have to be accurate or supported by facts, it just has to be said. It's not brave if you think the sentiments are popular.
ReplyDeleteIf you need someone else to provide you with specifics, you are either not paying attention or you are unreachable.
DeleteIf you were actually willing to listen, you would have heard plenty of examples. The running total of his provable lies is well over 6,000 since the start of his Presidency, every one of them documented. His history of personal racism and discrimination going all the way back to his and his father's housing projects in New York is a matter of public record. One could spend thousands of words and hours of time listing the references from the space between these two bookends of his career, all of which already exist out there. If you haven't seen them, it is proof of your total UNwillingness to listen to anything other than what you have preconceived. So why should we waste our time on you?
DeleteOk let’s switch it round. Provide one example of Trump dating something genuinely witty? It’s all epithet, name calling and derogatory mockery.
DeleteTrumpsters are like sheep and trump is the Shepard. Brainwashed. Don’t want to “hear” how he really is. And his love affair with Kim jun un and believing he didn’t know how the American boy was tortured and once released died is bullshit. A kid died over a stupid ass poster. And trump believes the dictator. I am embarrassed by this so called president and the people who support him

DeleteI have always considered myself a pretty good 'people reader'. I have no pony in this race but the first times I watched this man during his campaign I was amazed and dismayed by all the red flags he presented. You don't have to be especially smart or perceptive to see that the way he speaks , lies constantly, bullies and belittles others (not even to mention what types of people he usually does this to), is absolutely a setback to the USA. A man is judged not only by his words but by his actions and in this case both are deplorable. The article is bang on and the man is a total English 'trump'.
DeleteAnd, Ted, since you have given your educated, unbiased diagnosis of Trump,
ReplyDeleteyou should be able to see that he is only outmaneuvered in spewing hateful rhetoric by you! And we understand how you can recognize narcissism as you are probably accustomed to living with it.
You don't disappoint. Like the demagogue you worship, you finally resort to name-calling and a personal attack.
DeletePersonal attack? Name calling?
DeleteYou are ridiculous.
New Yorkers have always known what a farcical piece of shit the man is. We watched his antics, buffoonery and womanizing for years. The rest of the nation got introduced to him on the Apprentice, where he practiced his sneering narcicism. He has attracted the worst America has to offer, gun toting racist, sexist, anti-Semitic homophobes. He is a national embarrassment.
DeleteSo does being a gun toter make you a racist...or are you a gun toter because your a racist? Or does your belief in the second amendment make that your a racist? Do you even know what an anti-semite is? It's not the first thing I think of when I think of Trump.
DeleteChico Sam, pretty sure you didn’t understand the statement. You can be either one, a mixture of some, or all of the things listed above. Which one do you categorize yourself with?
DeleteMomma...I hope that you are not a real human Mother who is raising children to believe that you know things...more MAGA morons !
DeleteAn amalgamation of previously written pieces or not, it's one the best l've read. Hits all the points for me...
ReplyDeleteBeverly, me too!
DeleteLikewise for me, Beverly. I sadly have family who voted for this piece of garbage.
DeleteMomma, you realize,of course, that you lifted part of your last comment from an earlier reply? hahahahaha
DeleteBINGO!!!
DeleteI so wish more people who criticize without facts would actually understand what you just said. But lazy conjecture and sheep-like repetition of vitriolic, insulting statements are only childish comments from lazy, ignorant bullies.
ReplyDeleteIt's very odd to hear a Trump supporter talk about facts. Are you referring to "alternative facts"?
DeleteMomma70, what you said sounds like a Trump speech. You want facts, just look at the public record of the last thirty years of Trump. Anyone with intellectual honesty can see that the article is far more accurate than childish comments from lazy, ignorant bullies.
DeleteLeroy? Courageous. Not. Even. Close. This author nails it. It is a most apt description of the poorest excuse of a humane human. If you think otherwise, then apparently bullying, lying and cheating is ok in your world.
DeleteAMEN
DeleteFirst, I’m not a Trump supporter. I am a decent human being who believes in studied, courteous, adult discussions and debates. I distain childish, vitriolic, ignorant loudmouth bullies. Work hard to get Trump out of office by following proper channels, using real, proven facts. But leave the unsubstantiated propaganda unless your goal is to continuously Increase violence and to tear our country to shreds.
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump is amoral, incompetent politically, a narcissist, and a pathological liar. That's not "unsubstantiated propaganda", but just facts that he has shown us over and over again. Denying them would make you a Trump supporter, whether you want to admit it or not.
DeleteTed, you have made assessments about his personality, still no details about what he has said or done to support your assertions. That's right Ted, let's be intellectually honest, still no facts. In fact, I challenge you to come up with 3 items directly from this article identifying something that President Trump has actually said or done that has caused many respondents here such vitriol...ok two...hell just one! There's no honest discussion of issues going on here. I guess this is not really the forum for it. The sad thing is I'm actually engaging you all in this silly nonsense! Well, have fun spewing and venting! Enjoy wallowing in your Trump anxiety!
DeleteHis telling of over 8,000 lies in his first two years in office should be enough.
DeleteYou can't have your head that far in the sand to even ask the most ridiculous question.
DeleteTrump almost every day uses untruthful narcisstic divisive unprofessional unethical unintelligent repulsive rhetoric that EMBARRASSING to the point of STUPIDITY
Go sweep the forest floor.
I was hard on the FAA that's why it's so safe.
Why would he referring to Putin's involvement in our elections.
Fact Check.org nicknamed Trump KING OF THE WHOPPER..
They let you grab their pussy.
First President to be sued by a porn star.
Didn't know about documented hush money to change the outcome of a election.
I would be here all day putting up the most EMBARRASSING low class antics on a six grade level unbecoming of any President to hold office.
Wow...
"My dad only gave me a Million dollars." (Actually closer to $450,000.000) Self made Con man.
DeleteUnsubstantiated? Where the hell have you been? His lies and bullshit and gaslighting garbage are the most documented chain of twitter feed and video of any sitting president ever! wtaf! You don't believe your eyes and ears or have you been sitting under a rock? Jesus H kee-fucking-hrist! Go soak your head. Maybe that will unplug the dumbfuckery from your eyes and ears.
DeleteWalks and talks like a duck. I’m pretty sure it’s a duck!
DeleteLaws ! will apply to Trump. That’s what makes America great..
Deleteif it tweets like a fascist...
DeleteLet's start with documented facts of hush money to change the outcome of a election and everyone in his campaign circle's involvement in Russians smear campaign.
ReplyDeleteManafort resently admitted paying to change polls and Roger Stone talking to Wiki Links.
32 indictments and over 100 charges of corruption and no end in sight.
Documented facts that used his charity for financial and Political gain.
Weissman given immumimm who was Trump's financial advisor for years and investigating Trump's real estate dealings while increasing prices to avoid paying taxes.
Implemented twice failed policies of a fallacy of Trickle Down economics and deregulation that allows untethered high risk loans with predatory lending.
Plus nixed consumer protections allowing no ramifications when scamming people.
Already set a record for doubling the yearly deficit in a ten year upward swing in the economy.
This person is pointing out Trump's obvious character flaws and anyone who doesn't see it either doesn't want to or lacks intelligence, Common Sense etc..
Welcome to the conversation Eric. So almost none of what you've said is in the original article, or even many of the replies. They are just full of sophomoric character assaults and name calling, which was kind of my point in the first place. But at least you're getting closer to fact based comments, which encourages me to take you more seriously and actually listen. I'm still a little hard pressed to find detailed, specific, provable and supported facts here. Have you heard about the Senate probe into Russian collusion finding no evidence? I didn't hear it from the mainstream media. What about the Mueller investigation into Russian collusion? Now they're looking into everything and everyone but the kitchen sink! Don't they have enough evidence of collusion? According to you they do (2 years). And there seems to me to be a glaring omission that few folks are talking about. Why in Gods name would the Russians support a right wing hate mongering, sanctions leveling, war mongering administration, over a left wing government appeasing, military cutting, open boarders, global community loving, apology touring administration like Clinton and Obama? You can't tell me the Russians WOULDN'T benefit MORE from a Clinton administration than a Trump administration! I'm not buying it! But hey, we'll see! And way to rescue Ted! I'm listening.
DeleteBruh...seriously??
Delete"Bruh...seriously??"...seriously!!
Deleteno Chico, ironically. Which is obvious to anyone who isn’t a Trumpster.
DeleteTrump promised the top floor in a proposed Trump Tower of Russia to Putin. Hillary did not. Character assaults and name calling is Trump's specialty. Findings from the Mueller investigation into collusion with Russia has yet to be released. The Republican controlled Senate and Fox News are not interested in finding Trump guilty of anything. Whenever an investigation finds suspected criminal activity related to or unrelated to their original purpose they are required to have that investigated. Russians ARE benefiting more by Trump's slow destruction of American democracy than they ever would have benefited from Hillary. He appoints people to his administration that have contributed to his getting elected and that are loyal to him. When those people fail to be loyal he gets rid of them. The Russian sanctions were from a bill passed by Congress with a veto proof majority, which Trump was very reluctant to sign and whose veto would have been embarrassing for Trump when over-ridden. Within the bill was written that the President could not remove the sanctions without Congress approval. Trump will be found guilty within the next month or two of some counts by the Mueller investigation, but probably over 100 counts by the other 16 investigations. Stay tuned. Fox News has protected Trump, but is slowly backing off their support as the Mueller investigation is close to ending. Rachel Maddow on MSNBC has already revealed what you seem to be missing. She has a strong liberal bias, unlike Faux Noise with liberal haters like Hannity and Tucker.
DeleteEric Crowder...well said!
DeleteNate White, very well done.
ReplyDeleteWhen John McCain passed away late summer, flags were lowered to half staff across the country. Our president ordered the white house flag to be returned to its full height. After a full day of unrelenting public + private pressure, the president allowed the white house flag to be returned to its lowered position. For a full day the president sent this message to the McCain family: I am a DICK.
That's our president.
A few weeks later he addressed the UN, bragged about himself; and the UN laughed.
The entire Mueller investigation, the indictments, the lies and jail time handed out to his closest 'friends' and advisors...all speak to the character that is the man who is our president.
Its embarrassing.
Steve Bannon went from highly regarded to 'sloppy Steve'in the blink of an eye.
We the people have been punished for our lack of vision and foresight. How did we not see this coming during the lead up to the Republican convention?
History should teach us something.
I pray that it does.
David...well said!
DeleteAMEN !!
DeleteThis was very well done. Trumps day of reckoning is not far away. His bombastic vitriol on Twitter is well documented, and this has been largely while he is.....uh, 'winning'. Can you imagine the spectacular flame-out he will be as goes down. Looking forward to it honestly.
ReplyDelete🙏🏻
DeleteThis was spot on. He is a man with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He is chaos, he is cruelty, he is greed, he is ignorance. I pray my country can recover from the damage this man has inflicted upon our democracy. Please be patient with us. We have learned a difficult lesson....well, at least most of us have. You can never take our democracy for granted. Our way of life will is not guaranteed and demands that we are diligent that it is never hijacked again
ReplyDeleteI no longer have faith in our great experiment if it is so easy for such a terrible man to take on the mantle such power. My entire life I have never encountered a human being so devoid of basic humanity. You look him in the eye and there is nothing there. "Soulless" is how you put it. Quite apt.
ReplyDeleteTrump...Obama...really! This country is slouching towards Gomorrah (no, I'm not talking about a comic book hero) with or without Trump! Some of you have written "I pray that...."! Hah, hang on to that while you can. Someday that may be taken away from us as well! Assuming you honestly mean it when you say you pray. And make no mistake, these freedoms that many of you claim to cherish, if they are taken away, they will be taken by the left. Gosh darn it, I told myself I wasn't going to respond here anymore! But I'm hopeful. I guess we just keep fighting the good fight, and maybe even pray a little, while we still can.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you move to where T-Rump's friend lives? North Korea! There you sure as hell can enjoy your fucking freedom youy are so proud of.
DeleteLets see Britain's Jerry Corbyn is an Islamist pandering anti-semite. Theresa May's government has tortured Tommy Robinson and imprisoned heroes like him for trying to defend Britain from Muslim rape gangs. Unlike Theresa May who has flooded Britain with violent immigrants, Trump has shown some compassion to the American people and is trying to keep violent immigrants out. He has worked very hard to revive the American economy and revive it he has. He has revived the American military which the British may have forgotten rescued them from the Nazis.
ReplyDeleteTommy Robinson (con man and wife beater) has not been tortured, we have far fewer violent immigrants than you have psycho gun toting natives; and if you’d got off your fat arses and joined in WW2 a couple of years earlier rather than when you were actually threatened, the whole thing could have been put to bed by 1940.

DeleteAt Least the Poms don't make a habit of gunning down school children or anyone else who upsets them.
just another fact-free fascist...
DeleteI pretty much agree with what your saying Gamliel especially regarding the current situation in Britain-However i do have to disagree with your point on the US Military single handedly defeating the Nazis in World War 2 and rescuing the Brits. My father a Scotsman fought alongside the Yanks on D-Day at Omaha Beach so it was in fact Very much a joint operation involving Britain and All of its Allies.
DeleteAnd sadly, now our batshit-crazy "leader" has alienated all our allies. If the Canadians are smart, they'd start hawking a wall to protect THEIR southern border!
DeleteI'm working on it Susie/Noodles.
DeleteEvery intelligence agency: "Russia is attempting to corrupt our elections and undermine our democracy." Your man: "Russia if you're listening..." and "Every time he sees me, he says, 'I didn't do that,'... And I believe, I really believe, that when he tells me that, he means it... I think he is very insulted by it," This about Putin, the former KGB agent who has built the Russian state into one of the most corrupt, violent, and far-reaching criminal enterprises in history. Even in the extremely unlikely case that he was unaware of the now proven and admitted coordination between the inner circle of his campaign and Russian meddlers, his denial of the problem and attempts to thwart the investigation into it are likely treason.
ReplyDeleteHow about the policy of protectionism about which Ronald Reagan said "We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag."
How about immigration policy which utterly rebukes this, emblazoned below the foremost symbol of American liberty: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,/The wretched refuse of your teeming shore./Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,/I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
How about pulling out of the COP 21 climate accord, and undermining and eliminating legislation and infrastructure meant to not only limit the damage of climate change, but also to ensure clean air and water for our children.
Without any reference to the quality of his adulterous, vulgar, and dishonest character, these policies above, among many others, are more than enough to prove the great damage he is doing to our country, and most egregiously, to our reputation in the world.
Wake up folks! Trump is way more likely to resist Putin and Russian interference and influence, and more capable, then Clinton or Obama could ever hope to be. And more importantly, those two appeasers and America apologists would not even have the will! And again, it is laughable to me that anyone in the free thinking world could even suggest that Putin and the Russians would benefit more from a Trump administration than a Clinton administration.
DeleteBelieve it or not Trump agrees with the sentiment "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses...etc." He's just trying to separate that from "Give me your drug traffickers, your human traffickers, your convicted felons and rapists...!" Or did I miss that part of the statement? I mean do you guys really not get that! That group doesn't really care about American exceptionalism or freedom, accept for maybe freedom of incarceration. They still have to be vetted. They can be separated. But I get it, they are more votes for the Democrats. Give them free health care, free tuition, free condoms, clean needles, a pack of smokes and a cellphone, and you have a Democrat for life.
Have you read the climate accords! Give me a break! Have you seen the supporters and members of these accords! Brings to mind the old adage 'I could never be a part of an organization that would have you as a member' or is it 'that would have ME as a member' Oh well, you get my point!
Chico, Trump's wall will be obsolete before it is half finished. Drug lords have plenty of money and can use drones and other equipment to get over a wall. Most drugs come through the points of entry,in produce trucks especially. Turn off Fox News and stop selling their talking points.
DeleteResist Putin? He immediately lifted the sanctions as soon as he took office. In Helsinki, he kissed Putin's ass and despite all of our intelligence agencies saying that Russia ran a state sanctioned psych op against the US during the run up to the elections, Trump insisted that since Putin denied it, he believed him. This is the most ridiculous defense I've seen of this unethical man who is driving our nation into ruin.
DeleteGraz, I totally agree!
DeleteThe megas are the stupidest ever with no moral values or brains. Not acceptable
ReplyDeleteThe American political system is knee-jerk reactionary and swings like a pendulum in extreme spasms. Obama a result of Bush, and Trump in response to Obama. It will not be surprising, but interesting to see where the next swing will take us in response to Trump. Well to the left of Obama I suspect. Unless there's reform of the two party system, the spasms and casyms will olny increase in our society.
ReplyDeleteOur political system is NOT "knee-jerk reactionary". Yes, it does swing like a pendulum, but not at breakneck speed. But speaking of reactionaries, Trump is an excellent example. He and his "buddies" are of no conscience, and yet keep turning back the clock. He's so easily "led to belief in falsehoods", that if he weren't such a reactionary tyrant would be pathetic. But his personal pathos, brought upon himself by himself and his foolish and dangerous notions, is typical reactionary. A reactionary turns back the clock, just like Trump made it a point to overturn as many of the Obama Administration's advances. Trump is one of those "star-struck" narcissists, who idolizes anyone with money, fame (whether deserved or not), and cannot hide his admiration for people who are "bottom-feeders". He appeased Kim Jong Un, while getting nothing in return. (I can only imagine him drooling all over Kim and his great, authoritarian power. (I'm left wondering if he ate Korean food, or if he had Big Macs flown in from Seoul? As for his "pal" Vlad, he (Trump) pretends all over the place that he keeps telling the Russian Oligarch/Dictator "No" to this or that, when we know that he agreed wholeheartedly that Vlad's saying he had "nothing to do with the election in '16" .
DeleteI still don't think from what I learned over many years of schooling, that the "political pendulum" will swing in either direction very fast. That in itself concerns me a LOT!
This critique is so SPOT ON, I hope every person in America reads it! He certainly is without humor because he has no soul, is entirely " surface" as the author so brilliantly tells us! BRAVO. I'm sending this in the mail to TRUMP TODAY!
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of polarisation of opinion here. As an Englishman I have to admit the article is highly pertinent if a little hard hitting, but leaving aside any suspected criminal activity I do not believe the policies he is pursuing are necessarily dangerous for America. You may not like the style but the substance is not unreasonable.
ReplyDeleteYou don't believe his policies are ... "dangerous for America"?? PAY ATTENTION!
DeleteThis is amazing, and I was compelled to share it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nate, for taking the time to respond to that question with such eloquence and grace.
I used to live across the street from a house of ill-repute in NYC. The girls spoke about Trumps great tips. Very generous. That's precisely what he indeed is, a lot of scum.
ReplyDeleteThis is the BEST, most accurate description of trump I have ever read! The Brits have incredible insights into the human condition, and THIS piece is spot on!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything the writer has said about the artless embarrassment, the orange slug like waste of space polluting all - from the White House.
ReplyDeleteAs an older white guy, I think I can understand the current, primarily, Anglo-Saxon push back against the status quo.
Sure, the world is changing and the dominance of our culture is on the wane after a tumultuous time where the world was literally our oyster, beginning with the Industrial Revolution, land grabs of nations and entire continents, and on to an ever increasing technological age of advancement.
And now, as the world becomes more progressive and ultimately more equal, we rail against being part of the melting pot, instead of our perceived station above it.
So what are the majority of middle aged, and older white males with a similar gene pool to my own doing in the likes of the US and the UK?
Basically they are cutting their nose to spite their increasingly collective and idiotic faces.
Although arguments about sometimes out of touch politicians has some traction, where arrogance takes hold hand in hand with oppressive often knee jerk laws creating a myriad of ways where the general populace feels increasingly like they have been first strangled, then deposited into some gigantic pressure cooker - and promptly forgotten by our 'we know best and shut up' elite.
But instead of using the democratic structures and principals that have been fought and died for there is now a gathering groundswell of populist belief that this system of governance is no longer working. And rather than seek compromise and change from democratic institutions where people's voices and votes actually matter, a damn the torpedoes, let's shake it all up and blast it apart seems to be the modus operandi for this gathering storm of discontent.
In the UK, it seems like Brexit is a vote to go back to a time when England was the centre of an Empire and had its own closed and select trading block, which happened to take up about a quarter of the planets landmass. By leaving the EU, one of the worlds leading economic zones, the U.K. will not turn the clock back to its glorious empire building past but will quickly diminish by robbing itself of its economic lifeblood.
In all likelihood, the United Kingdom will be no more, and angry old white men will not have the time or inclination to complain about their English town having too many dark skinned immigrants living next door because they will be spending too much time just trying to survive in a country they have collectively and mindlessly kneecapped in their folly for some nebulous past glory - which probably never was?
But for sheer folly and sublime reality show driven ignorance, the United States takes the prize.
How the world's most powerful nation and leading democracy can install such a perverse caricature of the dark side of human nature is sickening and beyond belief.
A blustering orange maniac who tweets nonsensical rubbish ad nauseam and who's diatribes against all that make democracy work has been plain to see. The media, the courts, the constitution, national and world security are all under threat.
Donald Trump, to put it mildly, is not quite all there and is such an unstable danger that the Forty fifth President of the United States of America could very well be the last.
And that makes me sick to the core of my stomach and at the very least I can give a signal to Trump and all who supported him that the majority of us believe in a fair, just and democratic way of life.
So fuck you & fuck you all for your mindless, greedy and craven stupidity.
Blue Sky I could not possibly agree with you more, and had some time ago come to the horrific conclusion that the rapid destruction of our democracy may very well signal an end to free and fair elections. The decision of the GOP to unite and protect Trump, his attacks on the constitution and the rule of law, proves they have pledged their allegiance to fascism. They have completely succumbed to the lure of greed and power and, with Trump, see an opportunity to remain in power forever, protecting, and being protected by, a dictator. I saw Trump for exactly what he is before he even took office. My every prediction of his agenda is rapidly coming to fruition. It's so blatantly obvious that his every tactic, every word, is nearly an exact replica of those used by Hitler and his propaganda minister in Nazi Germany. And yet his ignorant cult cannot, or will not, see what is right in front of their faces every day. He makes no attempts whatsoever to hide his fascism, and they cheer him on. Terrifying stupidity. "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

It’s unfortunate that more citizens would recognize and be willing to state what you did about being punished for a lack of vision and foresight....and yes how did people not see this coming ??? It was in the American faces firmly and they chose to give him a chance which most of the morally sane question to this moment ....I would hope that more and more Trump supporters will be willing to admit they were wrong and oust this moron from American lives....best wishes that this happens
ReplyDeleteThank you. Tens of millions of USA citizens detest tRump and the tRump Regime.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteChico-sam asks: "What has he (Trump) said, specifically, that leads you to believe he is racist or stupid?" Specifically, here are four of numerous examples.
ReplyDeleteRacist -" Look at my African-American over here!"
"I’ve been treated very unfairly by this judge Now,this judge is of Mexican heritage. I'm building a wall, OK? I'm building a wall."
Stupid -"You know, if you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need ID."
"'The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing non-competitive."
Sir, you said maybe a third of Americans like Trump! No way he would be President if that were true! He won 30 States. Clinton won 20!
ReplyDelete"Winning" begat whining, which defines his so-called presidency and will be part of his legacy. The balance will be a sentinal's warning to the future: Yes. It can happen here. MAGA hats ARE the current day swastikas. Gaze into the eyes of those who wear them. Vacuous, spinning pinwheels.
DeleteHillary won that popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. If not for an antiquated electoral college, the will of the majority of Americans would not have been usurped by a minority of morons.
DeleteIF she had won, how could this country afford to give students free rides thru college.? Can’t afford it.
DeleteKill all the babies you want. Does not matter.
This country would implode!
The Electoral College is indeed obsolete, although given that it was placed in the Constitution to "appease" Southern states, and to entice their representatives at the Constitutional Convention to sign on. Take the College away, and I could hear all the people in the Deep South screaming that their "heritage and way of life" was being taken from them!
DeleteTeresa D: What's with this "Kill all the babies you want?" Do you honestly think women come to a decision to terminate a pregnancy do it so flippantly??? So many of them are due to a problem with the fetus, and/or a grave danger to the mother.
DeleteYour comment is based on fictitious numbers/statistics. Or are you just "parroting" what someone else told you to say and/or believe? Think for yourself. It will take you much farther than "just following orders".
The 2.amendment to the U.S. constitution is giving citizens the right to carry guns. Many of those gun owners claim that their gunrights are based on being able to go after a corrupt and rogue government. I am wondering why these people haven't arrived at Capitol Hill yet. There's lots to do for their guns! Especially at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
ReplyDeleteDead on, couldn't be any better than that. Well said!
ReplyDeleteThe British writer here is pretty much spot-on with one notable exception: he claims to be puzzled as to why some Americans devotedly back Trump, when his whole backyard is full of Brexiteers; it is the same mindless, resentful mentality that DJT has so brilliantly tapped into here. Brits need look no further than the likes of Nigel Farange.
ReplyDeletePlease stop branding all Americans with slurs because of Trump. His popularity is at record low levels. More Americans voted for Clinton than Trump; a broken system of presidential electors brought the monster into office. We twice elected Obama, whom you seem to respect, by great margins. We are now correcting the system, working on ending gerrymandering, pushing for gun control, trying to get big money out of elections, exposing the Russian manipulations that truly brought "Twitler" to power. How would you feel if I opined that your own population adored boorish Boris and thus created the disaster that you face with Brexit? I’m tired of being labeled by Brits, who feel some kind of innate superiority. Both our countries have high ideals, good people, and dreams for a better future. Please support those of us Americans who are working hard to expose Trump's crimes, what I believe to be his mental illnesses, his lies, and his other despicable actions. I love Great Britain (especially after discovery via DNA testing that I am 97% of your heritage) and wish more of its citizens would appreciate the challenge good Americans are facing, instead of lumping us all with the hateful racists and other Trump lovers. One last tip: many times, as a visitor to England, I’ve been told "Why, you’re nothing like an American!" While I understand these people thought they were offering a compliment, they actually were being offensive. America is a huge country, trying to figure out how to bring people of diverse races, religions, and ethnicities together as one people. It’s not easy. But don’t define us in terms of the worst of us. Thanks for considering my perspective.
ReplyDeleteYou sound religious Chico; please give me some examples of what a great Christian trump is and how he cares for the sick and the poor and upholds the 10 Commandments...Specific examples since that is what you are asking for...Gommorrah was destroyed more because of their greed and false idolatry than any other reason and I’m sorry but trumps only God is himself and $$$$$
ReplyDeleteThis opinion piece was well-written and 100% true. No one can get away with the malice that this mean-spirited individual has brought to our country. He will be in court and possibly jail for the rest of his life. His MAGA ploy has proven to be another one of his lying, cheating cons, he has no loyalty to America. His only interests are his own self gain. He has no loyalty to his blind-sheep followers. They will soon see that they have made a huge mistake, for supporting such a bad seed. No good could ever come from him.
ReplyDeleteAs an American I agree with this 100%. 1/3 of register voters love trump not because he is a great leader or businessman, they love him because he is what they are. They are racist, bigots, fascist, and over all are anti-intellectuals. This alone should scare the shit out of the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteSagan - you hit the nail on the head!
DeleteThere are among us - types just like Trump with all of his discusting limitations
I enjoyed this very much. And, it’s such an accurate description. It spotlighted something I couldn’t quite put my finger on that annoyed me so much about him. Not enough intelligence to have a sense of humor. He really is a reprehensible human being. It still baffles me that so many people praise him. I just can’t see what they are praising or how that speck of whatever they praise can in anyway overshadow the mountains of horrible things he does and says on daily basis. Even if he could, by some miracle, advance our country in the long run, what is the price? He’s completely amoral, not religious in the slightest despite what he says, mean, dirty and untrustworthy. Those traits do not make a great American .... or a great human for that matter. They do make for a dangerous person, though. He’s just an embarrassment who somehow manages to dupe people on a daily basis .... but how?!
ReplyDeleteTo Chico_Sam and Momma@70: What I find even more astonishing is your willingness to expose your illiteracy, your lack of critical thinking, inability to hear, discern and process actual fact and truth from fake news. Sadly there are many with identical closed minds and support Trump solely because of his inability to take on the duties of a REAL president of The United States of America.
ReplyDeleteThis article is spot on. I'm an American and to say the least extremely embarrassed for us at the kind of man trump is. I respect the office of president but I have no respect for the man. And what is more than discouraging is how many continue to support him. It all leaves me quite speechless.
ReplyDeleteSeems the writer was beguiled by Obama but Obama (who hardly lives up to this mans inflated opinion) was not on the ballot. It was an election between a psychopath or a sociopath. There was no possible good outcome here.
ReplyDeleteI will only say, I loved this commentary. But in defense of the American people, nay people everywhere, we must remember that the normal curve prevails. One half of the population has an IQ under 100 and just enough of those a bit smarter are so lazy that they don't really vet their sources and fall prey to Russian bots. As an American I still have hope and really see Trump as a good thing because his election has shown us how far we have to go to heal the wounds of racism.
ReplyDeleteThe extensive wounds come from 4 years of Obama
DeleteHe said during an interview “all we need is 1000s of Barack Obama and Michelle running around making things happen! LOL
I do not think the UK should be held up as a shining example of how efficient and effective government is supposed to work. We have had more than our share of rotten politicians , corrupt practice, and leaders that were totally crackers.
ReplyDeleteSo I think we can fully empathise with your predicament and, at the same time watch with baited breath as you hurtle towards the abyss.
Chin up, it's just what we deserve.
I only became concerned that Trump could become president (not "win; recall he lost by 3 million votes), when Brexit won in the UK. That was months in advance of our election, and at that point, nobody in the US thought Trump had a chance. He was widely written off and discounted as a joke, and polling was unanimously against him. Trump only ran as a publicity stunt to boost his own brand, and never even expected to win himself.
DeleteWhen Brexit passed, I got scared. Nobody really expected Brixit to pass, but it did, and what frightened me was that your Brexit voters were just like our Trumpers. I'm in contact with several Brits online through shared professional interests, and I had to block one hard-core Brexit supporter for his bombastic, racist, sexist, pro-Trump rants! They are the same people, your Brexiters and our Trumpers. We get to suffer their stupidity on both sides of the Atlantic.
I'm glad to hear these comments. Trump is a malignant narcissist. Google Frederick Trump and see the apple doesn't fall far from the tree..
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit surprised the author didn't comment on the business genius who managed to open a casino in the U.S. and fail. Then there's the absurdity of the idea of his future presidential library.
ReplyDeleteThe only books in his Presidential library will be the bogus books that he paid others to write and put his name on them. I not only doubt that he’s written a book, he’s probably never read one.
DeleteI think what people lose sight of, is that Trump was elected as an experiment.
ReplyDeleteThat after decades of partisan politics and paralysis and refusal of the body politic to address the real life concerns of the American people, Trump was elected to embarrass the US politician into action. What was overlooked was the fact that one man could not shame the shameless. While Trump is definitely not a politician, he has to work with 535 individuals who most certainly are. These 535 so called representatives are locked into a win/lose mentality to keep their positions and power and have all sold their souls to the highest bidder. They are the cream of the crop and masters of the lying and manipulative craft. It should be obvious to everyone at this point that in order for any substantial change to occur, we absolutely have to remove the money from the law making process and impose term limits on this body.
I visited Europe in the summer of 2016. At that time Trump looked like a long shot. People of several countries asked me what was going on in America and I assured them Trump could not win. Was I ever wrong. Sorry, I guess you won't have me back again.
ReplyDeleteWhen the golfer-in-chief finally departs on that day (should be declared a national holiday in his honor) he'd better not head back to NYC where it is quite likely he could end up in court and jailed (unlikely) for his wretched schemes and illegal capers. A very large orange suit to complement that hideous dye job would be fitting, and just maybe that fashion fop, Stoney (aka Roger Stone) could critique his attire and tell him how great he looks.
ReplyDelete...a 3rd of Our Nation has LOST their Collective MORALS And MARBLES! Yet, They Think They're the MORE Patriotic Ones??! However this SHITSHOW with TRUMP, his Sycophants and Minions Ends...IT won't be Pretty...Our nation Will NEVER be the Same, and could wind up Mortally wounded! I'm just glad I have More years behind then Ahead and No kids...America is PHK'd!
ReplyDeleteTrump supporters will ask you to provide proof of why they are wrong just to waste your time and energy. Not one has ever realized the truth that is right in front of them. That we blame trump is obvious, yet he is not the only problem - when he is gone these right wing racists will still be here.
ReplyDeleteAnd lets not forget that he hired Steven Miller, a self proclaimed white supremist to work in the White House. Steve Bannon too, but that didn't last long. And who can forget the appointment of Jeff Sessions, who once said he thought well ok the KKK until he found out some of the smoke marijuana?
ReplyDeletePlease, this is not a republican or democrat or independent or any kind of partisan problem. It's a problem with the corruption in our government, period. Watch this video: https://www.facebook.com/RepresentUs/videos/410253132875542/?v=410253132875542. We, as a people, are not being represented by our government. We need to make a major change, and make it soon, or we are all doomed.
ReplyDeleteI just started a monthly donation to RepresentUS. Right on. We absolutely must get our system corrected to less money in elections.
Delete"Every Country ahs had it's Davids and Goliaths, it's Hitlers and Macmillan's, and Augustus and Nero's. The think that has always amazed me is that there were always two sides directly opposed to the ideas, actions, and intentions of each and the other. Each entity in the world has it's 10% ers, extremists, dreamers, misfits, elite misguided politicians, and it's visionaries. I just pray we don't all end up in a firey mess with someone yelling: "Here come the dragons" or "We won, I THink."
ReplyDeleteIn Germany, I was mobbed by a humourless art school bunch from several nations making look Trump like a humorist in comparison to them, just cause I was the only one in that film school to predict that Trump actually may win .the fact that an opposition can be so blind to what's coming reminds one of the III Reich.also when i see the shameless bullying on the streets in berlin by foreigners towards germans, dau ater day, qmd the disrespect they ddsplay towards good German people also, I begin to dislike the likes of trump less and less.white people can't be expected to constantly apologize what for what has been done in their history.each day some fascist afghan or syrian murders a German and the left says nothing.these are real real reasons why people vote so called populists.the shameless arrogance with which foreigners expect Europeans to bow to their own poor and pitiful standards has been suffered for decades now, when Turks even expect you to speak rotten and bad German,so that their lazy incompetent so called brains do not get overworked.but ours did.as they constantly we're obliged to take Islamic dumbasses into account and becoming servants to their mental laziness, not to mention the billions they receive on welfare.the problem is real and has been criminally hidden by the left
ReplyDeleteSome truth. Some opinion. Some presumption.
ReplyDeleteI find Trump exercising a razor wit at times.
Humour? Humour is in the ear of the humoured.
Most who voted for Trump were voting AGAINST Clinton....not because they particularly liked him.
ReplyDeleteLet's speak to the DANGER that this man represents. Anyone observing him closely will notice a Pattern emerging. When its time for something negative to pop up, he claims the Headlines in some kind of way. But the DANGER comes in his words or wording. He needs to be gone from the White House. The same supporters others above speak of will come to his aid. Enough exsist that wont hesitate to cause bloodshed. His lack of wisdom may cause Great Violence if he isn't rempved very carefully. Thats my fear.
ReplyDeleteThe author is SPOT ON, as the British say!! The most accurate description of Trump I have ever read! I may have added one thing --- the Brits love animals for the most part ---- Trump has called dogs "filthy, dirty animals". He also approves of his spawn killing elephants, leopards, etc. Bravo to this piece!
ReplyDeleteSpot on. Thank you, Sir.
ReplyDeleteHe won because of the electoral college. Clinton has more votes. It’s a fact
ReplyDeleteThat is the best description of this unhinged, disgusting president I've yet to read. These are weird times here in Idiot Nation. I'm nostalgic for George W. Bush. Somebody shoot me please.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com
Strange days indeed.
I despise Trump...entirely, and agree with most of the points above but for england to say they despise a bully is quite hypocritical considering their extremely tarnished past
ReplyDeletemy thoughts exactly!
DeleteBeautifully, elegantly, eloquently put.
ReplyDeleteNailed precisely
ReplyDeleteBrilliant writing! Trump's move into Presidency is both unpopular and unprecedented Those responsible for this phenomenon range from the very conservative, very cunning, to the very gullible but the system itself provided the loophole for USA to be 'kidnapped'. His claim to fame is MAGA but despite extensive research I can't really pinpoint when America was "great" at any time in history. Their mega-wealthy have wielded their power in efforts to avoid tax since before Independence and despite a devastating civil war still support the slavery of common people of all races. Trump is a worry but Trumpism is a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the article, great stuff but then my mind slowed down and British colonial history reared it's disgusting, ugly, greedy head. Who are the British to cast stones when they sucked the blood out of every country they colonized. Lovely language and an enjoyable read since I agree with all that you've presented. What I have a hard time with is presenting the British on some high moral and civilized pedestal full of charm and loveliness when they savagely raped and pillaged the planet. The reason you're where you are now is because you stole everything just like the United States did... Sense of humor and civility are lost to me when I know well the evil of the British Empire. I enjoy a good Monty Python laugh just like the next guy but contrasting Trump with the civility and charm of the British to make a point is laughable.
ReplyDeleteWe have to remember that trump supporters really belong to a cult. Trump is worshiped (like the bull...), and it is well known that cult leaders get away with many immoral acts. The lies, the womanizing, the selfish indulgences are overlooked. He is the White Hero to his followers. He can get those pesky environmental regulations revoked. He can look tough to his followers by putting the world in jeopardy of nuclear annihilation.
ReplyDeleteMark Kahn, it is too easy to go back into history and criticize the Brits for the past mistakes by their country. We could do the same in the USA for out treatment of Native Americans, Blacks, Japanese, etc. OK, Britain was never great, America was never great. Okey-dokey. But we were on the path to getting better, until trump.
We nowadays have serious challenges with climate change and global poverty and disease to overcome. I think that the Brits have settled down rather nicely, not raping and pillaging any more, on the whole. The USA, well, it is currently threatening the very survival of its people and of the earth's people, thanks to trump and his followers.
As an American, I watch and read BBC news to get a true account of the political scene here. God help us if the majority watches Fox News.
ReplyDeleteThis author hit the bulls-eye. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI continue to be astounded that there still this many asshats out there who can rationalize there way to defending such a putrid creature. It really concerns me what has become of so many Americans. It is truly disheartening.
ReplyDeleteSpot on article. Knowing Trump, I find his supporters ......beyond the pale. The Evangelicals have sold their souls for an anti-abortion promise, but who can take the word of the Prince of Darkness.
ReplyDeleteYou’ve missed one very important character of British citizenry; generosity, of which much has been demonstrated in this writing. Commander Bonespurs is unworthy of your skilful understatement.
ReplyDeleteTwo words “nailed it”!
ReplyDeleteSpot-On!... unfortunately. If only he were just a bad-actor who will eventually go away. But, I am an American who is watching the deconstruction of democracy & decency in America. Alarm & Sorrow! I don't believe he was legitimately elected as there was Voter-Fraud, Gerrymandering,Russian interference, etc. That is the only way a Minority could rule in a democracy. This minority is bent on establishing an oligarchy - they are enemies of democracy.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on every single point and every last word. I've been simultaneously ashamed, scared, and disgusted ever since this traitorous abomination was installed. I just sincerely hope that when looking at America, the rest of the world realizes Trump in fact LOST by 3 million votes. Trump was installed, not elected. It's cold comfort to remind myself that the majority of us didn't vote for him when I have to see the bloviating bastard spewing hateful and dishonest nonsense while shredding the fabric of our country. I just hope we'll survive this and be able to undo the incredible damage he's doing.
ReplyDeleteI sit here in Australia still stunned that that he got into power the article is spot on and sums up the man perfectly if he were here he would not be in charge of the country he would be in prison. I feel for America your country will be so diminished when Trump has finished with it. The day of America being great are over I think you will be playing second fiddle for many yeas to come the rest of the world will simply get on with business and living and wait for trump to be removed. America you have my sincere and heartfelt condolences.
ReplyDeleteI canna believe all the nuances of dear mr president trump. This author knows more words than the Brittania encyclopedias!
ReplyDeleteWell done!!!
I admire many things about the Brits - they are, in general, witty and wry. And because their country has suffered so much at the hands of evil, they readily recognize evil and stupid and choose not to put up with it. We could learn a few lessons from them if only we'd listen.
ReplyDeleteSpot on. I can't wait for the Mueller report to hit the net ( The Donald will do his utmost to hinder its publication) This hugely dishonest man has so diminished the USA with his crude ravings his lack of any nuance but most of all his complete lack of grace.
ReplyDeleteNate White(writer) is spot-on in every respect. I guess it's true when they say if you want clear, concise, straightforward, unvarnished truth, ask a Brit!..
ReplyDeleteI would add that Trump is an arrogant, narcissists, self-serving, lying, manipulating, con-artist that has spent his entire life feeding his ego, greed, power and lust and he proves it daily. If anybody wants hard core examples, let me know.
Excellent analysis. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSpot on. Thank you
