Unemployment Rate For December Is Stagnant At 6.7%


The Labor Department has released its employment statistics for the month of December. It showed the economy did not improve, and the unemployment rate remained at 6.7% (like it was in November). It's not going to get better until the country can get control of the Coronavirus. 

Here are the relevant statistics for December.

OFFICIAL NUMBER OF UNEMPLOYED WORKERS:

10,736,000

OFFICIAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE:

6.7%

DEMOGRAPHIC PICTURE OF OFFICIAL UNEMPLOYMENT:

Adult men...............6.4%

Adult women...............6.3%

Teens (16-19)...............16.0%

White...............6.0%

Black...............9.9%

Hispanic...............9.3%

Asian...............5.9%

Less than HS grad...............9.8%

NUMBER OF MARGINALLY-ATTACHED WORKERS (unemployed but not counted):

2,186,000

MORE REALISTIC NUMBER OF UNEMPLOYED (official + marginally-attached):

12,922,000

MORE REALISTIC UNEMPLOYMENT RATE:

8.05%
